About Hello Baltimore

Hello y bienvenidos!

My name is Josefina Fernandez and I am a bilingual (English-Spanish) speech-language pathologist (SLP) in Baltimore City. I graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2007 with a undergraduate degree in Psychology, and then completed my graduate degree in speech-language pathology at the George Washington University in 2013. I worked at Kennedy Krieger Schools, serving elementary, middle, and high school students until 2025, after which I opened Hello Baltimore Speech and Language Services, LLC. As a college student, I took a part-time job as a home-based ABA technician, which introduced me to working with children with autism and other developmental disabilities, igniting my passion for serving this population. As an SLP, I loved working in school-based programs, but wanted to serve families in a new way after having a child of my own; therefore I founded Hello Baltimore to connect with families directly.

My clinical specialities include bilingualism and language development, autism spectrum disorders (ASD), developmental disabilities, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), literacy in students with developmental disabilities, early intervention, treatment of speech-sound disorders, and caregiver/team training. I also have extensive experience in IEP development and interdisciplinary collaboration in non-public school settings. I speak Spanish fluently, as my family is South American (Chile and Uruguay), and am proud to be able to serve clients in either or both languages.

Family participation and inclusion in service delivery are essential in treatment outcomes, therefore I work to educate and integrate families into the therapeutic experience. I value evidence-based approaches and stay up-to-date about research in my areas of interest.

I am a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and licensed through the state of Maryland.
